Suzanne’s Bio

Hello Friends!

My name is Suzanne Montgomery. I am a Family Physician practicing medicine in the Indianapolis area now for 35 years. Presently, I’m a part-time provider at a wellness center for one of our local school systems. However, my life’s passion is for missions.

Over my career, I’ve traveled to Haiti, Ecuador and Appalachia on numerous short-term mission trips. For the previous three years, my mission work has been located closer to home in the inner-city of Indianapolis at a faith based Community Health Center.  Here we serve everyone without regard to race, culture or means to pay. Many of the Burmese refugees in the area come to us as patients and it has been a great joy to become acquainted with these gentle people.

Refugees hold a special place in my heart. This first developed nearly 25 years ago when my family chose to sponsor a student from Liberia. Shadrach Gonqueh came to the US in 1995 for his education to become a doctor and lived with us when not in school.  I wrote his story in a memoir entitled, Letters Out of Africa. In this book, I detailed the many setbacks and funny events that occurred on the way to achieving his goal. Shadrach is now a dentist practicing in Indianapolis and remains a good friend to this day.

When not working, I find respite on our mountain farm in East Tennesse where my husband and I live with a menagerie of dogs, cats and bees. We have six grown children between the two of us scattered between Indiana and North Carolina. As of this update, we have five grandchildren and a herd of grand-dogs!

Writing for me is a renewal of an old passion from my youth. My intention is to encourage my readers to live life to the fullest, without fear, even when faced with uncertainty.

Be Coeurageous and trust God with the outcome!
