Everyday Epiphanies

everyday epiphanies

Revival broke out on the highway this morning. While driving down I-65 into the city, God decided to show up in a mighty way. Beams of sunlight pierced through the cloud covered sky as I headed to Simon Cancer Center. It felt as if He sent a message just for me. Let me take your plans and align them with My plans. Hang on I’m coming soon. Any moment, I expected Jesus to ride down one of the sunbeams. It was that amazing!

Have you ever experienced a time when revival broke out in your heart in the most unexpected way? It might be through a beautiful sight in the sky. But another time it could be a chance meeting of an old friend or a blessing out of the blue. Whatever the circumstance, allow joy to fill you up. God reaches down through everyday epiphanies to let us know that He sees you and still loves you. Do you recognize Him in these moments?

An epiphany is defined as a revelation or insight usually initiated by some simple or commonplace occurrence. It’s an ‘A-ha’ moment when something hidden all of a sudden becomes clear. A door opens. An idea is born. In every situation, an epiphany changes the recipient in an inexplicable way. Life will never be the same again.

Every January 6 we celebrate Epiphany, a Christian festival commemorating the journey of the Magi or Three Kings to Bethlehem. They follow a divine star in the sky that leads them to the Christ child. Jesus’ identity as King is revealed to these Wise Men although the rest of the world remains unaware. Such is the nature of epiphany. An earth shattering revelation occurred though no other witnesses but a few shepherds acknowledged it.

Even so, you don’t have to be a ‘Wise Man’ or follow a star to experience epiphany. God reaches down in common, ordinary circumstances to show Himself to you. Open your eyes to see and your ears to hear. Through everyday epiphanies, He reveals His message of grace and love for all who choose to believe.
